Legal aid provision is the core project for LAPD. The main objective behind the project is to promote access to justice and human rights for PWDs. Through this, it has been realized that there are several structural problems that constrain access to justice for PWDs.  This includes legal provisions and judicial/legal cultural/practices.  Largely, the justice system is not PWD friendly.  This is the case at all levels of interface with the justice system (both civil and criminal). In addition, various barriers prevent PWDs from enjoying their rights, including civil and political rights and economic, social and cultural rights.

LAPD avails legal aid and human rights awareness at regional and national levels and this is done through establishing legal aid clinics and holding legal aid weeks at regional level. LAPD works  in partnership with stakeholders in human rights, legal aid and disability for service delivery.
